The makers of the Netflix series Heeramandi have unveiled the patriotic song 'Azad.' The emotionally resonant song, jointly sung by Archana Gore, Pragati Joshi, Aditi Prabhudesai, Arohi, Aditi Paul, Tarannum Malik Jain, and Dipti Rege, features a beautiful composition by Sanjay Leela Bhansali , with lyrics penned by AM Turaz.

True to its name, ' Azadi ' portrays an inspiring and poignant narrative, as courtesans portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha , Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and others, pledge to fight for freedom. They are seen rallying with torches ablaze, exuding determination in their eyes. Aditi Rao Hydari 's character adds intrigue as she endures harsh punishment behind bars. The song's spirit and essence not only tug at the heartstrings but also evoke a sense of exhilaration, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

All about Heeramandi

' Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar ' is a period drama series created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series is about the lives of tawaifs at the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore, during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal. 'Heeramandi' was officially announced in April 2021, as a project Bhansali had envisaged 14 years ago. The eight-part series, which also marks Bhansali's first foray into streaming, began filming in June 2022. Filming was reported to have ended a year later in June 2023, after Bhansali asked for reshoots in May. Bhansali and Mitakshara Kumar serve as directors. The series will begin streaming on Netflix from May 1, 2024. Interestingly, Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently revealed his music label 'Bhansali Music' and all the songs in the film will be launched by his label.

Apart from 'Heeramandi', Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to direct 'Love & War', featuring a stellar cast including Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal.
